For the longest time I just thought this verse was talking about cursing and saying mean things to people. But, I read this the other day and the second sentence struck me in a different way. I think when Jesus said this He was talking about more than just dropping the f-bomb or saying something nasty about someone behind there back.
I think He was talking about our everyday conversations. What is the first thing we talk about when we meet someone new? A band that we our currently enjoying? The great movie we saw the weekend before? Jesus tells us right here that whatever our heart is overflowing with is what will come out of our mouths. You'd think that if we loved Christ as much as we say we do, we would talk about Him a whole lot more. If His grace is everything that we claim it to be then we should be shouting it from the rooftops. It's my fervent hope and prayer that Christ will always be spilling over the walls of my heart and ready to leap from the tip of my tongue.

When I initially left a comment I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments
